Axon ignites the intelligence revolution for public safety at IACP 2024
Axon showcases AI-powered products and solutions, supercharging the Axon Ecosystem and transforming real-time response and operational efficiency for law enforcement
Axon, the global leader in public safety technology, is excited to participate at the 2024 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference, taking place from October 19–22 in Boston, Massachusetts. At booth 531, Axon will showcase Axon AI — our latest advancements in responsibly developed, AI-powered solutions that are transforming the landscape of public safety.
“Axon AI represents not just a single product, but a commitment to continuous innovation for our customers. We have developed a suite of AI-powered products and solutions designed to evolve with the demands of modern law enforcement — and our portfolio is only growing. As new capabilities emerge, we intend to integrate them seamlessly into our hardware and software solutions, enhancing our customers’ workflows. This will enable officers to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently — driving real change in public safety,” said Rick Smith, Founder and CEO of Axon.
Visitors to the Axon booth will experience live demonstrations showcasing how Axon AI supercharges the Axon Ecosystem, enhancing real-time insights, improves response times, boosts officer productivity, and fosters safer communities to protect more lives in more places.
Actionable Intelligence: Speed up responses, sharpen decisions
Axon leads the way in real-time operations with the public safety sector's most advanced network of connected cameras and sensors, powered by Axon Fusus — our industry-leading real-time crime center (RTCC) technology in the cloud. Fusus delivers a unified operating picture, equipping officers and response teams with vital intelligence derived from both Axon-owned and third-party sensors. This capability allows agencies to proactively assess incidents before they escalate, significantly improving incident response.
The integration of AI-enhanced image search and alert systems within Fusus enables law enforcement to respond to crimes more swiftly, facilitating a more efficient criminal justice process from capture to courtroom.
Moreover, the introduction of drones — particularly through Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs — greatly enhances community protection efforts. As part of our Axon DFR offering, Fusus now integrates with Skydio’s drone technology feeds, connecting additional cameras and sensors to the Axon ecosystem. This integration provides officers with a streamlined view of their Skydio operations, ultimately improving efficiency and outcomes.
A groundbreaking advancement in the application of AI for real-time operations is the enablement of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. Today, we proudly announce that the Campbell Police Department has received a pioneering waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for BVLOS operations. This first-of-its-kind approval permits drone-agnostic flights during nighttime missions. With DedroneBeyond technology leveraging innovative radar and AI-driven sensors, the Campbell PD can now operate drones without visual observers. This capability allows for DFR operations around the clock, overcoming previous limitations posed by weather and other challenges.
Amplified Intelligence: Supercharge the Axon Ecosystem
As agencies dive into the value of real-time operations, they require smarter tools to ensure the information they capture is optimized, accessible and drives better decision-making. Axon AI is embedded in Axon’s real-time operations and evidence and records management platforms, Axon Evidence and Axon Records, both for today and the future.
With AI solutions like Draft One, agencies can boost productivity by reducing report-writing time by nearly 70%, allowing officers to spend more time in service. Auto-Transcribe further speeds up evidence review, using AI to convert audio and video into searchable transcripts in minutes. This technology has helped agencies cut evidence review time by 75%, accelerating investigations. To streamline the judicial process, Axon’s new enhancements to Redaction Assistant — rolling out this month — offers bulk redaction capabilities, allowing up to 20 pieces of footage to be redacted at once. In addition, two hours of video is now masked and ready for review in just 10 minutes. And overall, agencies can experience a 70% reduction in overall redaction time with the new solution, drastically improving efficiency while ensuring sensitive information is protected.
The true power of Axon AI lies not in a single product, but in our commitment to continually provide innovative solutions that supercharge the Axon ecosystem and law enforcement capabilities. At this year’s IACP conference, we’re unveiling the next wave of AI innovations, from smart image capture and crime scene analysis to automated form-filling and real-time translation through Axon Body 4. These solutions empower agencies with intelligent tools to enhance daily workflows and drive better outcomes and help maximize investment in the tools they already have.
With this continued innovation in mind, Axon is also excited to introduce a new AI Era Plan, providing agencies access to an ever-expanding suite of AI-powered tools. This plan includes solutions designed to enhance officer productivity, optimize field operations, improve evidence management, and increase the efficiency of data analysis. Through this plan, agencies will lock in access to our growing suite of AI solutions and benefit from early access to new AI-driven capabilities as they are developed.
Accountable Intelligence: Innovate with confidence
While Axon is at the forefront of using AI to enhance public safety, this is just the beginning. Our latest tools aim to improve officer productivity, streamline field operations, enhance evidence management, and optimize resource allocation. As AI technology evolves, so will its applications in public safety, broadening the possibilities and transforming key aspects of law enforcement operations.
We spend a lot of time thinking about what could go wrong. But we also need to think about what could go right. Can we do better than today?
As we move forward, Axon is committed to setting the standard for responsible innovation in public safety. We prioritize collaboration with key stakeholders, including public safety agencies, industry experts, academics, policymakers, and community representatives, to ensure our AI advancements serve as a force for good. The true potential of AI lies in its ability to create a smarter, more efficient future in public safety, all aligned with our mission to Protect Life.
